Foreign brokerage Macquarie has initiated coverage on One 97 Communications (Paytm) with an underperform rating and a target of Rs 1,200 compared with the issue price of Rs 2,150, suggesting a 44 per cent potential downside.

“Paytm’s market leadership position on the lead tables has been dropping every year for the last four years or so. Also, if the space is attractive enough, more people come in. ”

“It is like too much of a crystal ball gazing to say Paytm can actually disrupt the private banks. Paytm wants private banks to be their partners at best.”
