A total of 28,158 shares changed hands on the counter till time (IST).

On the technical charts, the 200-day moving average of the stock stood at Rs 606.91.

“If energy sanctions are imposed against Russia, then the previous oil price highs will be taken out. If that does not happen and we do not see any further escalation in terms of the war itself, there is still a good probability that the oil prices will probably move back towards $100 than hit those record highs.”

Combining all the three dividends, Vedanta’s dividend yield comes to around at 11.62 percent of its closing price as on March 2, reports said, adding that the dividend outgo in September was Rs 6,876.82 crore while that in December was Rs 5,018.22 crore.

The share price also received a boost after Coal India said that its aim of making capital expenditure of Rs 1,640 crore remains on track.

The state-owned miner posted a 26 per cent jump in its iron ore output to 37.18 million tonnes (MT) during April-February period of 2021-22. During the year-ago period, the company had produced 29.52 MT of iron ore, the Ministry of Steel said.

The partially convertible rupee opened at 75.6320 per US dollar as against 75.7000 per US dollar on Wednesday, the lowest closing level since December 20.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.16 per cent down at 35315.25.
